Hardware suitability, storage, licensing, viewing devices, accounts, lawful media sources, network conditions, and backup priorities are confirmed for the individual project.
Although it is not the recommended long-term configuration, an Emby server can run on a suitable existing desktop or laptop with an external hard drive for media storage, avoiding the immediate purchase of dedicated server hardware. This single-drive arrangement is less stable and provides no redundancy: if that drive fails, the stored media may be permanently lost. A separate, current backup is required for recovery, but duplicating a large media library adds hardware cost and ongoing maintenance.

Orange Structural delivers clear documentation for backing up the server and for making and organizing lawful personal digital copies of DVDs and Blu-ray discs the client owns, so supported media can be viewed on compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, phones, tablets, and computers throughout the home. Supported HTTPS/SSL remote connectivity can also be configured for secure viewing away from home, and in-person tutorials explain day-to-day library and server management.

Internet access is not required for local playback of media already stored and configured on the server. Internet service is required for initial setup and ongoing maintenance, including applicable software and app downloads, updates, metadata, guide-data refreshes, license validation, remote viewing, internet streaming sources, and other online features.
Customer-supplied IPTV configuration
Bring an eligible customer-owned service into the system.
When a client supplies their own lawful IPTV service, playlist, server address, username, and credentials, Orange Structural can provide configuration-only assistance for compatible IPTVEditor and Emby workflows.
